Swim Class Schedule Winter/Spring 2012
Wonders of the Water “WOW”
The YMCA since 1950’s have developed programs for people with disabilities. We offer a one-hour program on Wednesday’s 5:30-6:30. The class works on swimming strokes, lap swimming for cardio and muscular endurance, and plays water games. We have a lift available for easy access to and from the pool. The sign up for this class is need based, one on one with instructor or class participants
Arthritis Water Exercise Class
The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program the two organizations came together to create an exercise program with wellness concepts for people with arthritis, to manage symptoms, maintain independence, and enjoy life. AFYAP is a recreational program designed to accommodate the abilities of individuals with arthritis. The activities and exercise encourage self care, provide social interaction, and improve muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility. The class is not limited to those with arthritis, but welcomes anyone who wants all the benefits this class has to offer.
Class meets Tuesday and Thursday 9:45-10:30 a.m. and Wednesday 2:00 p.m.
National Multiple Sclerosis Aquatic Program
The YMCA has teamed with the MS Society to create in an aquatic exercise programs for people with Multiple Sclerosis. The purpose of an aquatic recreational program is socialization and exercise, and is intended to meet goals such as increased function and sense of well-being. The aquatic programs provides an opportunity to maintain mobility, prevent secondary symptoms of MS, maintain or improve flexibility, maximize muscle strength, and maintain or increase endurance potential.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:30 a.m.
