2011 Aqua Aces Winter Swim Team

The Ashland YMCA Aces is a competitive swim program for youth ages 18 and under who are able to swim at least one length of the pool. In addition to swimming skills, participants develop self-esteem, confidence, time-management skills, regard for others, and much more. Presently, there are 100 swimmers ages five to eighteen from the Ashland, Mapleton, Loudonville, New London, Mansfield, Lexington, Ontario and Clearfork/Bellville areas.

The season begins mid-September with the first dual meet at the end of October. The season runs through the Division Championships in February and then continues longer for those qualifying for league, zone, and national tournaments. A variety of optional invitational meets are also available.

Head Coach, Jeff Dropsey, says “There is so much talent in this area and I hope that more swimmers take advantage of the winter swim team programs. It prepares swimmers for their high school years and allows them to make new friends from other areas of our region. Technique and drill work are an important part of our program. We stress fun but work hard along the way.”
