PRE-BALLET: Students will learn an introduction to basic movement skills and ballet technique. Ballet attire is required. (Ages 4 – 5).

COMBINATION DANCE I AND II: Novice students are taught the principles of ballet technique and explore combinations and skills in jazz. Students are moved to the next level when directed by instructor. Ballet attire is required. (Ages 6 – 10).

TAP CLASSES: Students will learn basic tap steps and combinations. Students expand upon the basic steps to form combinations and time steps in higher level classes. Dance attire and tap shoes are required. (Age requirements at different level classes – see schedule).

TRAINING CLASSES: Students are selected and contacted by an instructor. This class is by invitation only! Students selected for the training program must fit the age requirements for each level. Training students have been involved in dance classes for at least two years and have displayed a commitment to the YMCA dance program. Other considerations for selection include dance skill and technique, attitude, attendance, class etiquette, and enthusiasm. (Age requirements at different level classes – see schedule).

ADVANCED STUDIES: Students are assigned to this class and are enrolled in the Training III level of study.

Ballet Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink slippers (not from Wal-mart or Target)

Dance Attire: Leotard, tights, leggings, dance pants or skirts
